Hatching Chicks!

One day, about 3 weeks ago, one of our chickens decided to go broody (hatch chicks). It normally takes 21 days for chicks to hatch. The picture below is of our hen sitting on eggs.

On April 17 the chicks you see in the picture below hatched! (Click on any picture for a larger view)

San Antonio TEA Party

On April 15, 2009 the Pirch Family went to the San Antonio Tea Party. This Tea Party was not your typical one with scones and tea. This Tea Party rally was to protest high taxes and the runaway spending of our country’s government. These nation-wide rallies were called “tea parties” because it was a representation of The Boston Tea Party. Although no one at the San Antonio Tea Party threw tea into the sea, many other rallies in coastal states did. These “tea parties” were held in every major city across the USA.

By the time the rally started at 6:00 pm, over 16,000 people had packed into the
Alamo Plaza, which was were the rally was held.

From 6:00pm until 8:30pm eleven individuals spoke on topics varying from the duty of a citizen, to the right to bear arms. I think the best speech was “Freedom at Risk” by Doug Phillips. You can download that speech for free from http://behemoth.com/album/53270

We started off Wednesday, April 15, 2009 by making signs at our neighbor’s, the Verniers’, house.

When we (the Pirch family) arrived at the Alamo at 2:00pm the Plaza was already packed.

We, along with thousands of other people, held up the signs we made earlier that morning.

P.S. (I photographed all the pictures.)
